A 34-year-old influencer known for making content about Disney died after reportedly suffering an allergic reaction during a holiday event.
On Thursday (December 5), Dominique Brown, 24, was attending a Los Angeles event hosted by BoxLunch, a pop culture-themed merchandise retailer, when she suffered a "medical emergency."
The medical emergency occurred after Brown unknowingly ate food that contained ingredients she was allergic to, according to the Daily Mail.
According to PEOPLE, Brown received CPR at the event, and emergency responders were called to the scene.
“We are devastated by the passing of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch Collective, who suffered a medical emergency at an event hosted by BoxLunch on Thursday in Los Angeles,” a BoxLunch spokesperson said. “Our hearts go out to her family and friends, and we will do everything we can to support them and the members of the BoxLunch Collective and our team during this painful time.”
Brown's cause of death hasn't been publicly released.
Prior to her death, Brown often created content about Disney rides and experiences. She was also a co-creator of BlackGirl Disney, which aims to bring more women of color into the Disney influencer space. The Disney enthusiast recently attended the Moana 2 premiere.
Several social media users questioned why BoxLunch hadn't shared more information about Brown's death on their platforms. Brown's death also sparked speculation about whether the company was prepared to handle medical emergencies at their event.
"This could've been so preventable," one social media user said in a viral TikTok.
Brown's brother, Patrick Ramos, spoke out about her death, commenting on her final Instagram post.
“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to her social media fam for showing her so much love and light,” Ramos said. “Disney did bring her joy, but it was unparalleled that she found a community who loved her and Disney as much as she did. I will miss my sister and best friend and that infectious smile she always had. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart.
