In several Instagram posts, Cole shared details about his "devastating" day, which included time spent in the hospital followed by an evacuation order amid the wildfires raging in southern California.

The comedian first posted a picture on Thursday (January 9) from the hospital, where he celebrated his 53rd birthday while hooked up to wires.

It's unclear what caused Cole's hospitalization. Celebrities, including Jamie Foxx, Kenya Barris, and Busta Rhymes, shared messages of support on his post.

Cole followed up Thursday's post with new footage of him having to evacuate his home on Saturday (January 11).

"This day is devastating!!!! Left the hospital earlier, sick af, went home, then had to packed what I could to evacuate," Cole wrote on Instagram Saturday. "As I drove away I seen the fire rising from behind my house, It’s a nightmare!!!"

Video shared by the actor shows fire rising in the distance.

"Oh my God look at this. That's right over my house. Oh man," Cole said in the clip.

Cole noted that he evacuated with flowers his mother gifted him before she died.

Wildfires across southern California have left at least 16 dead and over 100,000 people under evacuation orders.
